The Southern Missouri Professional Fire Fighters Association (SMPFFA) represents over 300 professional firefighters in Springfield and the metro area that are on the front lines every day protecting our communities. Public safety is the top priority for any community and our organization. To maintain public safety, we need strong leaders in place to ensure all areas of public safety are addressed including Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and the 911 system. Further, we also need good infrastructure throughout the city to promote public safety by having well-lit streets, safe roads, and safe intersections. To prioritize and enable investing strategically in all of these public safety needs, we must have community leaders who support economic growth. An economically strong community means sustainable resources to support core public safety services.
To maintain a priority focus on public safety and economic development, the City of Springfield?s April election is an important one for this organization. We are proud to endorse:
Zone 1 Phyllis Ferguson
Zone 2 Dr. Tom Prater
Zone 4 Craig Fishel
General Seat A Jan Fisk
General Seat B Craig Hosmer
The SMPFFA appreciates the strong record these candidates have in supporting public safety for our community while serving on City Council. They actively listen to the needs of their constituents on prioritizing public safety. Each of the candidates brings a diverse background to City Council due to their professional experience.
The SMPFFA has already endorsed Ken McClure for Mayor because of his pragmatic leadership style and ability to build consensus to achieve results. ?We support those who support public safety,? said Eric Latimer of the SMPFFA. ?These candidates are also committed to sustaining economic growth to ensure the necessary resources for critical public safety needs.?
